Energy Meters Enable Smart Energy Decisions
“Smart meters need live displays” were the findings from the Energy Saving Trust in their report on power consumption meters to be fitted in homes by 2020. The report issued to the government focussed on the fact that energy meters are ideal to monitor how much energy consumption is taking place and therefore allow consumers to make adjustments to rectify unnecessary energy usage.
Focus group research presented in the report, The Smart Way to Display, shows a consumer preference for simplicity in visual displays of energy use. Allowing consumers to see the energy they consume. Ben Castle, for the Energy Saving Trust added “Having good, well designed displays accompanying smart meters is key to the objective of saving energy, saving carbon, saving money for householders”.
It is evident that allowing consumers to make informed decisions about their energy usage is vital in making the right decisions about energy consumption.
